Dangerous to the status quo: new podcast empowers South Africans make a difference

“South Africa has entered a new era of hope and with it an opportunity to finally build the great nation we have all been longing for.”

Johannesburg, July 17 2024 – With the dust having settled on the elections and a GNU in place, podcasting pioneers Podcast Party and well known author and social activist Craig Wilkinson have teamed up to launch an empowering new podcast calling on all South Africans to play their role in building a safe, prosperous and united South Africa. Co-founder of Podcast Party, Rina Broomberg, believes that “now is the time to finally realise the great potential we have as a nation.”

An engaging and inspiring public speaker, Wilkinson hosts the show, which aims at equipping ordinary South Africans to become an active force for good in society and their personal lives.

The podcast is provocatively named ‘Dangerous but Good’, because in Wilkinson’s words, “every one of us needs to be a danger to all that is wrong in society and a force for all that is good”. He explains that “Being dangerous but good means becoming the most effective, influential, competent person you can possibly be and living your life in such a way that you achieve the maximum good that you are capable of. This podcast aims to show people how. We will interview men and women who are living out that ethos and explore ways you as an individual can grow your ability to be a force for good in every aspect of your life.”

Producer of the podcast, Jack Motlanthe added that “South Africa needs this podcast now more than ever. It’s the perfect addition to the Podcast Party family, giving listeners a platform where they are empowered to make informed decisions and be a part of positive change in our nation.”

Wilkinson is the founder and CEO of the non-profit organization Father A Nation and a best-selling author of transformational books and courses on fatherhood, positive masculinity and overcoming gender-based violence (GBV). He emphasised that “Because fatherlessness and GBV are such devastating forces in our country a lot of attention will be paid to building and promoting positive, healthy masculinity and fatherhood. And because abuse of power has been so destructive and pervasive we will address the issue of power and how it can and must be used only for good.”

Wilkinson believes that a person can only do good to the extent that they have the personal power to do so. “Without power they will never be a force for good in the world, they will never reach their full potential and never be everything their family and loved ones need them to be. Because of this every person has not only a duty, but a sacred responsibility to both grow their power and to use it only for good.

Now is the time for courageous men and women who stand against corruption, hatred, racism, poverty, inequality and anything else that is a danger to our future. Men and women who are dangerous to the danger and a force for good.”

The Dangerous but Good podcast will launch on Wednesday 17 July with a new episode released weekly, available on Youtube at @PodcastPartysa and all popular podcast platforms.
